2010 Annual Meeting
EARLYBIRD DEADLINE: 12/01/2009
On July 31-August 4, 2010, the American Accounting Association (AAA) will hold its Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. The Program Advisory Committee for the 2010 Annual Meeting of the AAA invites academic and practitioner members from around the world to submit research papers, proposals for panels, Effective Learning Strategies sessions, CPE Sessions and the Conference on Teaching and Learning in Accounting (CTLA).
Although the final submission deadline for papers, panels, and CPE proposals is January 6, 2010, paper and proposal submissions received by midnight eastern time on December 1, 2009 are eligible to win one of three (3) Earlybird Cash Prizes. Volunteers are also needed to serve as reviewers, session moderators, and paper discussants. If you are submitting a paper or proposal for the 2010 Annual Meeting, please consider "giving back" to the community by also volunteering to serve in one or more of these roles.

AICPA Exposure Draft
AAA TASK FORCE RESPONSE
Recently the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Professional Ethics Executive Committee issued an Exposure Draft entitled Proposed Revision to Ethics Ruling No. 2 Regarding Distribution of Client Information. The American Accounting Association (AAA) convened a Task Force to respond to the proposed revisions. FASB Accounting Standards Codification™
ACADEMIC ACCOUNTING ACCESS
On July 1, 2009, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) instituted a major change in the way accounting standards are organized. On that date, the FASB Accounting Standards Codification™ (FASB Codification) became the single official source of authoritative, nongovernmental U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP). After that date, only one level of authoritative U.S. GAAP will exist, other than guidance issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). All other literature will be non-authoritative.
As part of its educational mission, the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF), the oversight and administrative body of the FASB, in a joint initiative with the American Accounting Association (AAA), will provide faculty and students in accounting programs at post-secondary academic institutions with the Professional View of the online FASB Codification.
